FABULOUS FORTNIGHT. Casablanca to Casablanca. 15 Days/14 Nights

Day 1: Welcome to Casablanca

Upon arrival in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, your private driver will greet you at the airport and escort you to your Casablanca hotel, where you will check in and relax. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a tour of the Hassan II mosque one of the most elaborately designed mosques in North Africa! Later on, you can have dinner at the famous Rick's Cafe; the place was designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie classic Casablanca. Overnight in your hotel. Bed and breakfast included.

Day 2: Casablanca-Rabat-Chefchaouen

After Breakfast, we will be heading to Rabat and Chefchaouen. In Rabat, we will visit the Royal Palace, The Mausoleum of Mohamed V, the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an incomplete mosque initiated by Almohad ruler. After lunch, we will begin our drive to Chefchaouen via the Rif Mountains. We will explore the simply beautiful city of Chefchaouen where everything is set dramatically climbing up the mountains. Load up your cameras! Its blue-washed houses, narrow cobbled streets, and mountainous backdrop create a tranquil and photographic setting... Overnight in your riad include bed and breakfast.

Day 3: Exploring Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring Chefchaouen (known as the Blue City of Morocco). Located at the footstep of two higher mountains, Chefchaouen is a beautiful and unique city with its white washed walls and blue doors and windows. Unlike many parts of Morocco, Chefchaouen was occupied by Spain and Portugal. Therefore, there is much influence from the Spanish and Moorish architecture. this is your chance to meet up with local people, walk around the markets and feel the charm of this unique city... Overnight in your riad include bed and breakfast

Day 4: Chefchaouan-Volubilis-Meknes-Fes

Today you will travel to Volubilis and explore the ruins of this Roman city. You will visit the holy city of Moulay Idriss (a place of pilgrimage for Moroccans). After, we will continue to Meknes where you will explore the Medina of Meknes with its beautiful Tomb of Moulay Ismail, The Granary, The Square of Lehdim, and the Gate of Bab al Mansour. You will have the opportunity to explore the souks and relax in one of the Square’s cafés. In the afternoon, we will head to the city of Fez where you will discover one of most important royal cities of Morocco and stay the evening in your riad include bed and breakfast.

Day 5: Fes Guided Tour

After breakfast, ye will visit the most interesting  attractions in Fez. This will include the medina (the old city), its ramparts, and alleys. We will view the famous medieval tanneries and tour the Karaouine Mosque, which was founded in 859 by Fatima Al-Fihri. This Mosque is considered the most magnificent and historic religious attraction in the city. After lunch, we will see the Merenid tomb that is in the rim of the valley. We will explore the superb architectural masterpiece of Bou Inania Medersa and other decorated architectural masterpieces like Attarin Medersa and the Neijarin Fountain. We will also view the Fondouks (the place where the donkeys and their owners meet) and visit the souks (markets) where handcrafted merchandise and edible goods, as well as copperware and pottery are sold. Overnight in your riad include bed and breakfast.

Day 6: Fes to Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

After breakfast in your riad, you’ll journey towards the south where the Sahara is, via Midelt and Errachidia. Your first stop will be at Ifran, referred to as "the Switzerland of Morocco", and then to Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz Valley. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at the famous cedar forest - the largest in Morocco – where you may well sight Barbarian apes. You’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city Er Rachidia. After lunch in Midelt, your journey continues along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way. We will drive through welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud, and then Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty - the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Arriving in Merzouga at the end of the day, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you check in to your riad. Bed and breakfast included.

Day 7: Explore the Wonders of Merzouga Desert

After breakfast in the riad you will start an explorative journey of the area. You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. You may also visit the souk in Rissani, a traditional town which was the origin of the ruling family in Morocco and the meeting place of the Caravans trading as far as Timbuctou in Mali. Here you will see a lot of men hooded and women veiled. In the afternoon you will start your guided camel ride, led by an experienced camel man to explore within the sand sea of Merzouga. Overnight at our desert camp where you will have your dinner and breakfast.

Day 8: Merzouga Desert - Todra Gorge - Dades Gorge

Early in the morning your camel guide will wake you up to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards you will trek back to the village of Merzouga, enroute you couldn’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes - changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast in your riad, you’ll leave for the Dades Valley, visiting Todra Gorges - the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch within the valley, you will have an optional hour’s hike through the fields where you will enjoy visiting an old mud village, meet locals and learn about the culture. On through Dades Valley, where you will have the opportunity to see majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as "monkey toes". Overnight accommodation will be in your hotel overlooking the Dades valley. Dinner, bed, and breakfast.

Day 9: Dades Gorge - Rose Valley - Ouarzazate

After breakfast in the hotel we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M'gouna and Ouarzazat. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand kasbahs – providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. We’ll stop at Kalaa Mgouna, "the rose city", to purchase the rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over. Continue to Skoura and the dirds valley; visit the Kasbah Ameridil, a well-preserved kasbah in this area. After lunch, you will have some time for hiking within the valley and then continue to Ouarzazate - “the Hollywood of Africa”- whose geography and beautiful landscapes have attracted many world class movie producers. Overnight accommodation include dinner, bed, and breakfast (HB).

Day 10: Ouarzazate to Essaouira

After breakfast departure toward Marrakech. By visiting the Atlas studios which host the largest movie studios in the world such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jewel of the Nile , The Mummy, Gladiator and The Man Who Would Be King. then continue the road to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site : the exotic Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou.after that You will cross the high Atlas mountain through the pass of Tizi n’Tichka. Stopping along the way and enjoying the wonderful surroundings then having lunch in a berber village called”Teddart” before your arrival to Essaouira. Overnight in your riad include bed and breakfast.

Day 11: Exploring Essaouira

Breakfast at the hotel in Essaouira, then start our explorative journey of the city. You’ll visit the Skala Fortress; see Thuya wood carved by artisans; walk through the alleys of the medina and view hundreds of handicrafts. Today you will have lunch in a Moroccan way, freshly bought fishes ‘cooked to order’. In the afternoon, you will have some free time to wander around , go to the beach and enjoy time to yourselves. Essaouira is also referred to as The "City of the Wind" and it attracts surfers from all over the world. Essaouira knew many civilisations - including the Portuguese occupation, which affects much of its architecture - however, it remains a small village with much history. Because of its size and its characteristic blue doors and washed walls, it is also regarded as Morocco’s "Jewel of the Atlantic”. There is an annual festival of “Gnawa music”, where many musical groups come from different parts of Africa and the world. Usually it starts in the second week of June. Overnight accommodation include bed and breakfast (BB).

Day 12: Essaouira - Marrakech

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the riad and drive you to one of the most beautiful beaches in Morocco, located in a small seaside village called Sidi Kawki. We will enjoy swimming for a half day before we drive back to Marrakech. In the afternoon, you can enjoy Marrakech by night if you wish. Overnight in a local riad include bed and breakfast.

Day 13: Marrakech Guided Tour

On this day, after breakfast you will discover Marrakech. You will visit the most beautiful palaces and monuments such as the 19th century Bahia Palace ,the 16th century Saadian Tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque ,the Majorelle Garden . You will also wonder the Souks where the merchants sell leather, carpets, cloths, spices, kaftans... Overnight in your riad include bed and breakfast.

Day 14: Cooking Class and a Hammam Spa in Marrakech

A cooking class and a Hammam Spa in Marrakech are a great way to experience the culture of Morocco. Today, you will meet your Moroccan Chef who will take you around the markets to get ingredians of whatever you choose to cook (a Tagine, Couscous, Tangia, Rfissa or Moroccan pastries...). This will allow to shop as Moroccan while enjoying the smell of the spices, the fresh vegetables and fruits. The cooking class will take place in the riad. An other experience we would like you to have for a complete Morocco experience is the Hammam Spa. It is also possible to have this day free for yourselves if you are not interested in the Hammam and the cooking class.

Day 15: Deparure 

We will pick you up from your riad after your breakfast, and drive you to the airport in Casablanca for your flights. Tour end.
