South and Berber Culture - 8 days/7 nights

This 8 day tour starts from Marrakech and ends in Fez. You can also do it the other way around (Fez to Marrakech). Please contact us to customize it for you if needed.

Day 1: Welcome to Morocco

Your driver guide will pick you up from the airport upon arrival and drive you straight to your riad located in the heart of the old Medina of Marrakech. Bed and breakfast included.

Day 2: Marrakech Guided Tour

On this day, after breakfast you will have full day tour to discover Marrakech. By Immersing yourself in the red city and During your tour you will have Lunch in the Medina , you will visit the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Marrakech such as the 19th century Bahia Palace ,the 16th century Saadian Tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque ,the Majorelle Garden . You will also visit the famous Souks where the merchants sell everything from leather, carpets, cloths, spices, kaftans... Overnight in your riad, Bed and breakfast included.

Day 3 : Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Dadés Valley

With a start in Marrakech we’ll drive to Ouarzazate through the dramatic Tizi ‘n’ Tichka pass (2260m), over the High Atlas Mountains, appreciating the beauty of the landscape on the twisted roads through the Berber villages. Arriving at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, now a UNESCO matrimonial historical site and house of many Glaoui family members, we’ll take lunch by the Kasbah before continuing to Dades Gorge via Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”, along the “Road of the thousand Kasbahs”- the fascinating “sand castles”. Stopping at Kalaat Mgouna, “the rose’s city” known for roses and its annual festival during the roses harvest in May we’ll then continue to our hotel in the heart of the Dades Gorge. Overnight in our Hotel/Riad. (BD)

Day 4: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

Leaving the Dades valley towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley you’ll see panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Arriving at the Gorge is an opportunity to walk under the 300m high red cliff, where many rock-climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. Continuing on to Erfoud and Rissani where we’ll have lunch before heading onto the village of Merzouga - Our home- where your camel will be awaiting you. You will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and a turban (desert scarf) before you mount your camel, guided by an experienced Camel Guide, to explore within the mysterious sand-sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Here you’ll spend your first night under the stars, or if you prefer, in a traditional Berber nomad tent...(BD)

Day 5: Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Cedar Forest - Fes

Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards, you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to your Riad appreciating the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast in the local guest house we’ll travel to Fes via Errachidia along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, and through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt, stopping in Zaida to enjoy a barbecue and refresh with a glass of mint tea before continuing to Azrou, a Berber village in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where we’ll stop to see the Barbarian apes in the cedar forest. Then it’s on to Ifrane “the French village”, stopping for a picture or a drink before arriving at your accommodation in Fes. (B)

Day 6: Fes sightseeing escorted by an official local guide.

You will begin your guided tour of the old Medina, one of the world’s largest walled cities. You will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco. A visit to the royal Palace, the tanneries, and potters are just a few places you will experience. For lunch you will eat in traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina. After lunch you will complete the tour and return to your hotel for the evening. Dinner will be served in a local restaurant. (B)

Day 7: Day Trip to Chefchaouen from Fez

In the morning, we will pick you up and drive you across the Rif Mountains to the charming Blue City of Chefchaouen. In this mountain town, many of the streets and building are painted in delightful hues of blue. You will want to take many photographs as you wander the cobbled streets in the Medina. The shops in the main square sell handicrafts such as wool, blankets, and paintings.  In the afternoon, we will drive back to Fez for the night. (B)

Day 8: Departure.

We will drive you to the airport to catch your flights. Tour end.
